Sodienye Mbatumukeke , the man who killed one Chukwuma Eleje, a Jumia delivery man in Port Harcourt in 2017 has been sentenced to death by hanging by a high court in Port Harcourt.
Sodienye Mbatumukeke and his friend Mr Excel Naabee were on trial for armed robbery and the murder of the late Jumia delivery man in March 2017.
Late Eleje was killed and his body dumped in a septic tank when he went to deliver some iPhones ordered from the online ecommerce website Jumia to Mbatumukeke’s residence located at Ada George Road in Obio-Akpor local government area of Rivers.
According to the police report, the two accused had strangled Eleje and dump his body in a septic tank.
His remains was later recovered by Homicide detectives of the Rivers State Police Command.
Justice Chigozie Igwe of the Rivers State High Court found Sodienye Mbatumukeke guilty of murdering Eleje and armed robbery while Excel Naabee was discharged and acquitted of all charges.
