Calabar, Nigeria – The Anti-Cultism Squad of the Cross River State Police Command has apprehended two suspected drug dealers during a raid at Old Market Road in Ugep, Yakurr Local Government Area.

Confirming the arrest on Friday, the state Commissioner of Police, Gyogon Grimah, said the operation was based on credible intelligence, which led to the successful raid and arrest of the suspects.

The suspects, identified as 21-year-old Bassey Bassey and 23-year-old Christopher Okoi, were reportedly caught with substances believed to be hard drugs.

An on-the-spot search of the suspects yielded 27 wraps of Ice, 110 wraps of Colos, 16 wraps of Loud, and seven Big. Other items recovered during the operation included a laptop, three Android phones, two power banks, a scale, an MP3 player, and N1.3 million in cash.

CP Grimah revealed that the suspects have confessed to the crime. He assured the public that investigations are ongoing to identify and dismantle the supply chain of the drugs.

The commissioner further stated that the suspects would face prosecution upon the conclusion of the investigation.

The police pledged to intensify their efforts in tackling drug-related crimes in the state.
