The priest in charge of the St. Michael’s Catholic Church parish in Umuekebi, in the Osuoweerre Autonomous Community in the Isiala Mbano Local Government Area of Imo State, Rev. Fr. Kingsley Eze, has reportedly been kidnapped by gunmen.
According to a source, at approximately 8 p.m. on Thursday, the priest and another guy, known as Uchenna Newman, who was driving the priest in a Volvo jeep, were abducted at Orie Ama Junction.
“It is true,” the insider stated. Father Ichie, also known as Rev. Fr. Kingsley Eze, our parish priest, has been abducted. At approximately 8 p.m. on Thursday, he and Mr. Uchenna Newman were abducted at Orie Ama Junction.
“They were abducted as they exited the Volvo jeep to make a purchase at the intersection.
He said “last night, around 8:30pm, a Rev Father and a driver were kidnapped at Orieama junction. Several other shops were robbed and destroyed by the kidnappers who operated on two motorcycles.”
The spokesperson for the police in the State, Henry Okoye, told Newsmen that he was yet to receive a report on the incident.
