A devastating road accident occurred in Kano on Monday, resulting in the loss of 25 lives and injuring 53 others.
The crash involved a trailer conveying 90 passengers, including animals and goods, along the Kano-Zaria road at the Dangwaro flyover.
According to the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), the trailer’s driver lost control due to excessive speed, causing the vehicle to crash.
The FRSC Sector Commander, CC Ibrahim Abdullahi, confirmed the incident and warned against the dangerous practice of transporting humans, animals, and goods together, which violates traffic regulations and endangers lives.
Rescue operations were promptly carried out in collaboration with the Nigerian Police and other emergency agencies.
Recovered items included six motorcycles, ten mobile phones, animals, maize, and N4,000. All victims received immediate medical attention at Murtala Specialist Hospital Kano.
This trailer crash comes just three days after another trailer accident in Imawa town, Kura Local Government area, which claimed 15 lives along the Kano-Zaria road.
The FRSC advises all road users to follow traffic laws and regulations closely to avoid more tragedies.
