In a shocking and unprecedented incident, a group of monkeys allegedly intervened to save a six-year-old girl from an attempted sexual assault in Baghpat, a city in India.
The girl, a UKG student, was lured away from her home by an unidentified man on Saturday, according to her parents. The accused took the child to an abandoned house, leaving the parents frantic with worry.
However, the situation took a dramatic turn when a group of monkeys, who were reportedly roaming in the area, sensed the distress and rushed towards the assailant. The aggressive monkeys forced the man to flee, leaving the child unharmed.
The girl’s father, still shaken by the ordeal, recounted the events to authorities. “My daughter was playing outside when the accused took her away. He threatened to kill me if I didn’t shut up,” he said. “If the monkeys hadn’t intervened, my daughter would have been dead by now.”
The police have registered an FIR under various sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. The investigation is ongoing, with police reviewing CCTV footage and conducting inquiries to identify and apprehend the suspect.
The local community is still reeling from the shocking incident, and many are hailing the monkeys as heroes for their bravery. “This is a rare case where animals have come to our aid,” said Baghpat Circle Officer Harish Bhadoria. “We are doing everything possible to identify and apprehend the accused.”
The victim’s identity has been withheld to protect her privacy, in accordance with Supreme Court directives on cases related to sexual assault. The police are working tirelessly to ensure that justice is served and that the accused is brought to book.
