The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Kebbi Area Command, has handed over 6,240 dynamites it intercepted in 2022 to the Department of State Services (DSS) for further investigation and prosecution.

According to the Area Comptroller, Mr. Iheanacho Ernest-Ejike, the explosives were intercepted on July 6, 2022 , along Yauri-Jega Road in Kebbi State by a joint border patrol team comprising NCS, Nigeria Immigration Service, DSS, and Nigerian Army.

The items, which included 40 cartons and sacks of cap-sensitive dynamite explosives (super power 90), were loaded on a white canter vehicle with registration number ZUR 882 ZY.

Two suspects, Abdullahi Aliyu and Alhaji Mustapha Garba-Jega, were apprehended and have been charged to court and remanded.

Each of the explosives has the capacity to destroy a one-storey building, according to Ernest-Ejike.

The Deputy Director of DSS in the state, Mr. Anthony Oduwalu, commended the Nigerian Customs Service for their diligent work and assured that the inter-agency collaboration would be sustained to yield more results in the fight against crime and insecurity in the state.
