The All Progressives Congress (APC) has accused the Kano State Government of mobilizing a protest against the party’s National Chairman, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, in Abuja.

According to a statement by Comrade Okpokwu Ogenyi, Special Assistant to the APC National Chairman on Civil Society and Support Group, the Kano State Government hired protesters, mostly Kwankwasiyya members, to demand Ganduje’s resignation.

Ogenyi alleged that the protest was coordinated by a senior aide to the Kano State Governor and that the protesters were promised N50,000 each but were later given N10,000 each, leading to some of them complaining of being shortchanged.

The APC described the development as “unfortunate and desperation taken too far,” saying that the Kano State Government had resorted to using people from the North-central zone to demand Ganduje’s removal after failing to achieve their goals in Kano State.

The party identified some of the hired protesters as not being genuine APC members, citing that they wore Kwankwasiyya T-shirts and caps during the protest.

The APC also listed several notable leaders from the North-central zone who are genuine stakeholders in the party, including Senator Ameh Ebute, Senator Jack Tilley Gyado, and Ambassador Adadu Eachi, among others.

The party has vowed to resist any attempts to destabilize its leadership and ensure that the plot to remove Ganduje does not succeed.
