In a shocking turn of events at the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship primary in Ondo State, Banji Ajaka, the Commissioner for Health, was assaulted by an angry mob at Ugbo Ward 3 in the local council government.
The incident unfolded when members of the opposing faction within the APC demanded to inspect the result sheets for the primary. Witnesses, who preferred anonymity, recounted that tensions flared as the mob accused Ajaka of concealing the result sheets.
According to eyewitnesses, the situation escalated rapidly, with the mob confronting Ajaka directly, alleging that he was in possession of the result sheets. Despite Ajaka’s attempts to clarify the misunderstanding, the mob turned violent, resulting in him being physically assaulted.
Dr. Ajaka, when reached for comment, confirmed the incident, attributing the assault to false allegations of withholding the result sheets. He expressed dismay at the violent turn of events, emphasizing that he was merely attempting to explain his innocence when he was attacked.
