President Bola Tinubu has announced a significant increase in the national minimum wage, raising it to N70,000.
This decision was made during a meeting with leaders of the Trade Union Congress (TUC) and the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) in Abuja today.
According to President Tinubu, the new minimum wage is part of a broader effort to improve the livelihoods of Nigerian workers and their families. The President also pledged to review the national minimum wage law every three years to ensure it remains relevant and effective.
In addition, President Tinubu promised to explore ways to support the private sector and sub-nationals in implementing the new minimum wage, recognizing the importance of a collaborative approach to achieving this goal.
This marks the second meeting between President Tinubu and labour leaders in just seven days, demonstrating the administration’s commitment to engaging with stakeholders and addressing the needs of Nigerian workers.
