Tinubu Reiterates Commitment to East-West Road Completion

Abuja, Nigeria – President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appointed Abdulrazak Yusuf Tukur as National Commissioner for the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), representing the North West.

He also nominated lawyer Saseyi Feyijimi Ibiyemi to succeed the late Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) of Ogun State, ‘Niyi Ijalaye.

In an official statement, Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, detailed the qualifications and experience of the nominees.

Tukur, 59, holds a Bachelor of Arts from Bayero University, a postgraduate diploma in Economics from Bradford University, and a Master of Arts from Leeds University, both in the United Kingdom. Joining INEC in 1999 as an Assistant Chief Administrative Officer, he advanced to become the Director of Electoral Operations and Logistics. His appointment awaits Senate confirmation.

Ibiyemi, 58, from Ilaje in Ondo State, is currently the Administrative Secretary of INEC in Lagos State. A graduate of Obafemi Awolowo University, she was called to the bar in 1988. If confirmed by the Senate, she will fill the vacancy left by Ijalaye, who passed away in August.
