President Bola Tinubu has sacked the Managing Director of the Nigerian Security Printing and Minting Plc (NSPM), Ahmed Halilu, who is also the brother-in-law of former President Muhammadu Buhari.
According to sources, Halilu was appointed to the position in September 2022 by Buhari. Other executive directors affected by the removal include:
- Ado Danjuma (Corporate Services)
- Chris Orewa (Operations, Lagos Factory)
- Tunji Kazeem (Security Documents)
- Victoria Irabor (Company Secretary)
Irabor is married to former Chief of Defence Staff, Lucky Irabor.
Abubakar Minjibir, Executive Director of Operations (Abuja Factory), has been asked to act as Managing Director in the interim.
The reason for the sack is unclear, but a Central Bank official confirmed that the affected officials were asked to leave with immediate effect.
This development marks a significant shake-up in the leadership of NSPM, a company responsible for printing Nigeria’s currency and other security documents.
