Tobi Amusan had made headlines in 2022 by setting a new world record in the women’s 100m hurdles at the World Championships in Eugene, Oregon, with a time of 12.12 seconds.
Nigeria’s Tobi Amusan, the world record holder in the women’s 100m hurdles, did not advance to the final at the Paris Olympics.
Amusan finished third in the first semi-final with a time of 12.55 seconds.
Despite her strong performance, she was unable to secure a spot in the final as faster times were posted in the subsequent semi-finals.
In the third semi-final, Jamaica’s Ackera Nugent clocked 12.44 seconds and France’s Cyrena Samba-Mayela recorded 12.52 seconds. Both times surpassed Amusan’s, securing their places in the final and ending Amusan’s chance of a podium finish.
