A Decommissioned Boeing 727 Transforms Into a Luxurious Airbnb Offering Guests a Taste of Billionaire Living in Bristol
An abandoned Boeing 727, rumored to have been owned by the infamous drug lord Pablo Escobar, has been transformed into one of the world’s most unique Airbnbs. This luxury accommodation in Bristol offers guests the chance to experience billionaire living at 32 feet above ground for up to $1,055 per night.

Originally built in 1968 for Japan Airlines, the plane was converted into a private jet in 1981 and remained airborne until its decommissioning in 2012. Entrepreneur Johnny Palmer, 41, acquired the jet and secured permission from Bristol City Council to turn it into a high-end Airbnb.
While rumors swirl about its previous owners—including an Arab prince, the Mafia, and even Pablo Escobar—Palmer focuses on its current role as a haven of luxury and creativity.
Luxury Features Fit for a Billionaire
The jet boasts two double bedrooms with ensuite bathrooms, leather seats that convert into beds, walnut paneling, and even a gold-plated shower and toilet. Despite lacking wings and engines, it retains its original cockpit and features functional lighting, airstairs, a kitchen, and three toilets.
Johnny describes the experience as “a cosplay fantasy,” allowing guests to escape into a world of luxury before returning to everyday life.
A Labor of Love and Creativity
Restoring the aircraft to its 1981 glory took several years and involved a team of electricians, carpenters, and plumbers. Palmer personally handled much of the electrical work.
“I always wanted a private jet, but it didn’t need to fly,” he said. “This project was about creating something unique and bringing joy to people.”
Affordable Luxury and Artistic Opportunities

Prices range from £250 ($310) on quiet nights to £850 ($1,055) during peak times like August. The jet is also lent out for free to artists working on music videos or photoshoots, particularly in the Drill and Rap scenes.
Johnny occasionally hosts open days, inviting local residents to tour the plane in exchange for charity donations.
What’s Next? Another Plane on the Horizon
Encouraged by the success of the project, Palmer has submitted plans for a second, larger airplane to be placed alongside the first.
“This one will be bigger, higher, and even more impressive,” he revealed.
Whether you’re a thrill-seeker, an aviation enthusiast, or someone looking for an unforgettable stay, this luxury jet-turned-Airbnb promises an experience like no other.
