The 2024 edition of StartupSouth, a yearly technology and business conference, is scheduled to hold on October 4, 2024, in Port Harcourt, Nigeria, with a list of seasoned panelists for a discussion on the topic, “Digital PR and Storytelling: Building Brands and Influencing Culture in the Digital Age.”

Henshaw Jacobson is an author, digital media professional, PR consultant, blogger, and media entrepreneur. 

He began his career in sales and marketing, holding leadership positions for six years across three companies before transitioning to digital marketing. In 2018, Henshaw founded QliqMedia, a digital marketing and PR agency. By 2020, he launched Naira Diary, an award-winning news and lifestyle blog that tells Nigerian stories and boasts over 1.5 million followers across social media platforms. 

In 2024, he expanded his portfolio by founding Qliq Digital, a social media agency for small businesses, and co-founding Believers Watch, an international Christian blog dedicated to spreading the gospel through digital storytelling. 

Henshaw Jacobson’s work has been recognized both locally and internationally, with features in top media outlets such as Business Day, This Day, Guardian, Sun, The Nation, Wazobia TV, Silverbird TV, and Tech Economy, among others.  Henshaw has spoken at prestigious conferences, including StartUp South, Ignite Conference, South-South Media Week, and Media Enterprise Summit. 

Henshaw has also consulted, trained, and managed media campaigns for NGOs, personal brands, and businesses, including APC, Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN), Heart2Heart Foundation, and COZA. 

In addition to his professional work, Henshaw is the convener of the Naira Diary Impact Awards, an impact award that celebrates individuals and organizations making impacts in Nigeria.

Abiye 

Abiye  is a lawyer, entrepreneur, storyteller and the founder of Rivers Brides. In 2021, she launched Rivers Brides after recognizing the lack of adequate representation of Rivers State culture on social media. 

With over 403,000 followers across various platforms and a solid community of culture enthusiasts, Abiye has garnered recognition, awards including Naira Diary Impact Awards, and collaborations with major brands. She has made a significant impact in telling stories about Rivers State culture through weddings, thanks to her innovative approach, superb storytelling, and dedication to excellence.

Through Rivers Brides, Abiye has built a reputable brand that has become the go-to source for information on traditional marriage rites, cultural attire, music, language, food, and other fascinating aspects of Rivers’s culture. Thomas, I. Philip, popularly known as Comrade Phils, is a social activist, serial entrepreneur and publisher of the famous online newspaper, REPORT AFRIQUE.

He is also the CEO of SmartCity Broadband Ltd, an ISP firm that provides unlimited internet service in Nigeria and Social Metrics Limited, a digital PR and content creation firm operating from Coventry, United, Kingdom.

He is a well-known political commentator and has been actively involved in the journey to reshaping of Nigeria’s political space through his activism and strive for good governance.

In 2015, he was the Head of New Media for the now-defunct Transformation Ambassadors of Nigeria. He was the deputy head of communications for the Africa Movie Academy Awards (AMAA) from 2016 to 2020.

In 2023, he convened the Peter Obi Volunteer Network (PVN), a vibrant and vocal support group for the Labour Party Presidential Candidate,Mr. Peter Obi, and later became a member of the Presidential Media team of the Obi-Datti Campaign Organization, the official campaign organization for the presidential bid of Mr. Peter Obi under the Labour Party.

Thomas has been involved in social activism in Nigeria and has earned his place in history for championing notable campaigns against corruption, bad governance and police brutality.

He has remained an advocate for good governance and has vehemently stood against corruption , especially using  social media as a tool to achieving social justice.

Faith Orluchukwu

Faith Orluchukwu is a dedicated content creator known for producing engaging and relatable digital content across various platforms. She holds a degree in Management from Rivers State University and has over three years of experience working with Naira Diary, where she has played a key role in boosting engagement, driving traffic, and growing the platform’s follower base.

As the Community Manager and Content Lead for Naira Diary, a news and lifestyle blog focused on telling Nigerian stories, Faith continues to shape the platform’s voice and connect with audiences. When she’s not creating content, she enjoys exploring new social media trends, watching movies, and honing her content creation skills.

Faith’s passion for storytelling and deep understanding of digital media make her a valuable asset to any team.

 Fortune Wobidi

Fortune Wobidi is a personal brand clarity coach, media evangelist and digital branding and marketing maven, committed to helping young personal brands find their voice, maximise their potential and turn their passion into profit leveraging digital media. In the past 7 years, he’s worked with a laudable number of business and personal brands within and outside Nigeria in helping them use social media to build thriving and purposeful brands.
