The Nigeria Police Force raided a hideout of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and Eastern Security Network (ESN) in the Akwuke community of Enugu South Local Government Area. The raid resulted in the death of two suspected members of the group.
According to the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the operatives encountered significant resistance from the suspects but were able to overcome them with superior firepower.
The police recovered weapons including an AK-47 rifle, a SubMachine Gun (SMG), a stainless Pump Action Gun (PAG), and ammunition.
Additionally, in other operations, the Jigawa State Police Command, in collaboration with local vigilantes, apprehended two suspects in connection with a case of culpable homicide and robbery in the Dangoli Fulani Camp of Kiyawa Local Government Area.
The suspects, identified as Bello Usman and Musa Babangida, were found in possession of two AK-47 rifles, ammunition, handsets, a motorcycle, cash, and other items.
Police investigations revealed their involvement in a robbery that resulted in the deaths of three individuals in Birni Kudu Town.
Furthermore, the police reported significant achievements in crime-fighting efforts, including the arrest of numerous suspects involved in armed robbery, kidnapping, murder, unlawful possession of firearms, rape, and cultism.
Firearms, ammunition, stolen vehicles, and kidnapped victims were also recovered across the country.
In a separate incident, armed bandits attempted to kidnap passengers along the Gusau-Funtua Road in Katsina State but were repelled by police operatives, resulting in the rescue of the passengers.
Moreover, a joint task force arrested several individuals involved in the illegal manufacturing of arms and ammunition in Benue State. Exhibits recovered from the suspects included firearms under fabrication, ammunition, welding gas cylinders, and other materials.
