Enugu State Governor, Peter Mbah, has successfully secured investment deals and partnerships with senior government officials, the business community, and international development partners in Vienna, Austria.
During his visit, Governor Mbah met with Austrian Minister of Interior, Gerhard Karner, and signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for the establishment of a K-9 training unit in Enugu State to boost security and crime detection.
Additionally, he discussed the implementation of an agricultural model region with Austrian Minister of Agriculture, Norbert Totschnig, and explored opportunities for replicating the Austrian Cooperative success story in Enugu State.
The Governor also met with the Managing Director of Austrian Promotional Bank (AWS), Sagmeister, who expressed interest in providing guarantees for Austrian businesses investing in Nigeria and assisting the Enugu State administration in designing creative approaches to procure foreign funding.
In his remarks, Governor Mbah assured Austrian Minister of Labour and Commerce, Dr. Kocher, that his administration was poised to expand collaboration between Austrian and Nigerian businesses, particularly in agriculture, hydro power, work, and knowledge in semiconductors. He highlighted the existing Austrian business presence at the European Business Park, Godfrey Okoye University, Enugu, as a facilitator for this collaboration.
This development is expected to bring significant investment and economic growth to Enugu State, and strengthen the relationship between Nigeria and Austria.
