Police arrest Chinese manager over alleged murder of female crane operator

Abia State Police have apprehended a Chinese manager and expatriate, Mr. GZ Zhen, at Inner Galaxy Steel in Umuahala Asa, Ukwa West council area, following the alleged murder of a female crane operator named Ocheze Ogbonna.

Reports suggest that Zhen assaulted the female crane operator during a night shift at the company after she rebuffed his advances, resulting in injuries that ultimately led to her death.

The incident sparked unrest in the area, with local youths protesting the tragic death of the crane operator, who was also a member of the host community.

Abia State Police Command’s Public Relations Officer, ASP Maureen Chinaka, confirmed Zhen’s detention and stated that investigations into the matter are underway.
