Akwa Ibom State Transport Corporation Bus Intercepted by Gunmen

A Port Harcourt-bound bus operated by Akwa Ibom State Transport Corporation was ambushed by unknown gunmen, resulting in the abduction of the driver and all 18 passengers on board.

According to eyewitnesses, the bus was traveling from Uyo terminal through Iwukem in Etim Local Council Area when it was intercepted by the gunmen along the Azumini boundary between Akwa Ibom and Abia states.

The attackers reportedly shot into the air, forcing the driver to stop, before ordering the passengers to disembark or face being killed. The driver and passengers were then marched into the nearby bush, where they were taken hostage.

The whereabouts of the victims remain unknown, and the police have confirmed the incident, stating that they are currently monitoring the situation.
