Nollywood actress Bisola Badmus has recently been in the spotlight due to her health and financial struggles, which she publicly shared in interviews with fellow actresses like Biola Bayo and Biola Adebayo.
Lagos,Nigeria- Bisola, who has a son named Malik with the popular Fuji musician King Wasiu Ayinde Marshall (KWAM 1), opened up about the challenges she’s faced, including being abandoned by the musician, leaving her to raise their son alone.
Initially, KWAM 1 was said to have acknowledged Malik as his son, but according to Bisola, the relationship deteriorated, and he stopped fulfilling his parental duties. After which, she appealed to KWAM 1 to take responsibility for Malik, expressing frustration and sadness over the lack of support. In her own words, she stated that despite KWAM 1 initially accepting their son, “it changed all of a sudden,” leaving her to manage Malik’s upbringing on her own.
In addition to the financial burden of raising a child alone, Bisola has also been grappling with severe health issues. She revealed that she has been suffering from encephalopathy, a brain condition that can cause memory loss, confusion, and even coma. This illness has taken a toll on her both emotionally and financially. Bisola disclosed that she had to sell her cars to fund her medical treatment and had to take a hiatus from her acting career to focus on her recovery.
Her public plea for help and transparency about her situation has garnered significant attention from fans and the Nigerian entertainment community. Following her interview, the public’s response was overwhelming, and a generous Nigerian stepped forward to provide a scholarship for Malik, which was a major relief for Bisola, who had been struggling to cover her son’s educational expenses. Despite this, many fans criticized KWAM 1 for not stepping up to support his son, with some expressing shock that someone of his wealth and status would allow an outsider to provide for his child’s education.
The outpouring of love and support she received from both her colleagues and the public has been a beacon of hope during her difficult times, and the scholarship for her son Malik stands as a testament to the goodwill of Nigerians rallying behind her.
While the scholarship was a blessing, it also ignited debates and criticisms of KWAM 1, with many questioning why someone of his financial standing would allow his son to rely on others for his education. Social media users expressed their disappointment in the Fuji star, arguing that it was his responsibility to provide for Malik, especially given his wealth and influence.
Through it all, Bisola has maintained a positive outlook, thanking those who rallied around her and her son. The scholarship has provided a ray of hope during her ongoing health battle, offering Malik the opportunity for a brighter future despite the challenges his mother continues to face.
