The identity of one of the people victims trapped in the 7-storey building that collapsed last Friday in the city of Port Harcourt has surfaced online.
Friends have been sharing Ekene’s , also known as Morgan, pictures online and praying to God to sustain him until he is rescued. Ekene made a call after the building collapsed to some family and friends to inform them he was trapped in the ground floor of the building. His line has remained switched afterwards. He has been trapped since last Friday making it six days today.
Relatives of trapped victims are keeping vigil at the site. You can see many muttering prayers and some grieving in tears. The atmosphere is so tensed.
Rescue workers have dug up 5 persons who are currently receiving treatment at a hospital in the city. Ekene’s well-being is currently unknown as rescuers have not been able to breakthrough to the ground floor since Friday night.
A major challenge is the rising water level at the ground floor of the building. The rains have added to the rise in water level.
Ekene and many others remain trapped as rescue workers work day and night to get them rescued.
