Kano, Nigeria – The U-19 team bus of Kano Pillars Football Club was involved in a serious accident on Tuesday morning while en route to Jos, Plateau State.
The incident occurred as the team was traveling to face Plateau United U-19 in a Matchday 5 fixture of the inaugural U-19 Youth League at the New Jos Stadium.
According to reports, the bus lost control and somersaulted several times along the expressway. Fortunately, no fatalities were recorded, but several players and the bus driver sustained injuries. They were immediately rushed to a hospital for medical treatment.
The club’s media department confirmed the incident in a press statement, saying: “It is with deep sadness that we announce that the Kano Pillars FC U-19 team bus was involved in a road accident earlier today. Several players and the driver sustained injuries in the unfortunate incident and have been promptly taken to the hospital for medical attention. Thankfully, no fatalities have been reported at this time, and the medical team is closely monitoring the situation.”
The club assured the public that further updates would be provided as more information becomes available.
