MC Oluomo Sacked as NURTW President by Court Ruling
Court of Appeal Dismisses MC Oluomo, Affirms Alhaji Baruwa as NURTW President

ABUJA – Just six days after taking office, Mr. Musiliu Akinsanya, popularly known as MC Oluomo, has been removed from his position as National President of the National Union of Roads Transport Workers (NURTW) by the Court of Appeal in Abuja.

The court confirmed Alhaji Tajudeen Baruwa as the legitimate leader of the NURTW and imposed a fine of N100,000 against the appellants in favor of Baruwa and his supporters.

This decision follows a prior ruling by the National Industrial Court on March 11, 2024, which had already declared Baruwa as the rightful president of the union.

The unanimous judgment was delivered by a three-judge panel consisting of Justices Hamma Akawu Barka, Nnamdi Dimgba, and Asmau Ojuolape Akanbi, who found the appeal to be “lacking in merit.”

In a statement issued the following day, the NURTW sought to clarify that the election of MC Oluomo has not been annulled by any court order. Alhaji Moshood Ajao, the South West Coordinator of the Elders Forum, emphasized that MC Oluomo was not involved in any lawsuits or leadership disputes concerning the NURTW.
