Port Harcourt, Nigeria – In a move aimed at spreading Christmas cheer, the Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, has approved a N100,000 bonus for civil servants, public servants, and pensioners in the state.

This announcement was made on Tuesday, December 24, 2024, and is set for immediate implementation to ensure beneficiaries enjoy a fulfilling yuletide celebration.

The Head of Civil Service, Dr. George Nwaeke, disclosed the development in a statement, highlighting that this is the second time the Fubara administration is approving such a bonus for civil servants, and the first time pensioners are being included.

“His Excellency, Governor Siminalayi Fubara, in the spirit of the yuletide, has approved the sum of N100,000 for civil servants, public servants, and pensioners in Rivers State. This gesture underscores his commitment to the well-being and happiness of Rivers people,” Dr. Nwaeke stated.

The beneficiaries include workers across various Ministries, Departments, and Agencies, as well as retirees in both the civil and public service. Dr. Nwaeke noted that the bonus amount, which surpasses the national minimum wage, is a testament to the governor’s “Rivers First mantra,” prioritizing the welfare of the state’s workforce.

“This administration has consistently demonstrated its dedication to improving the quality of life for civil servants. The governor’s approval of the Christmas bonus for the second time under his tenure reflects this commitment. Including pensioners for the first time further highlights his inclusive approach,” Dr. Nwaeke added.
