Patricia Technologies Begins Customer Repayments Following 2022 Cyberattack
Lagos-based fintech company, Patricia Technologies, has initiated the repayment process for customers impacted by a significant cyberattack in 2022, which resulted in losses exceeding N600 million. The attack led to a temporary suspension of withdrawals on the platform and sparked a high-profile investigation that culminated in the detention of several suspects, including a notable politician.
The first phase of repayments began on December 10, 2024, with affected customers being notified via email. To effectively navigate the repayment process while ensuring financial stability, the company has adopted a phased approach.
One customer, referred to as BP for confidentiality, expressed gratitude for the developments, stating, “I sincerely appreciate your efforts. Although it took time, I’m satisfied with the amount received. Thank you for keeping your promise,” in an email response.
Patricia’s CEO, Hanu Fejiro, emphasized the importance of this milestone, noting, “This repayment process signifies a crucial step in fulfilling our commitment to rectify the situation.” He urged customers to update their information on the Patricia platform and to stay informed through official communication channels about upcoming disbursements.
The company has assured its users that repayments will proceed in phases, reiterating its dedication to addressing all claims.
