Bauchi, Nigeria – The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested a 50-year-old businessman, Alhaji Nuru Isah, for allegedly beating his wife, Wasila Abdullahi, 24, to death during a dispute over Ramadan food ingredients.
The incident occurred on March 1 near Government Girls College, Fadamam, Mada Area, Bauchi. According to the Command’s Public Relations Officer, CSP Ahmed Wakil, the police received a report at about 11:30 PM regarding a case of culpable homicide.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the couple had a disagreement over how to handle food items and fruits meant for breaking the Ramadan fast. The argument escalated, leading Isah to flog his wife with a cane. She collapsed and was rushed to the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University (ATBU) Teaching Hospital, where doctors confirmed her death.
Following the incident, the Bauchi State Police Command launched a thorough investigation, and the suspect remains in custody.
Commissioner of Police Auwal Musa Muhammad assured the public that justice will be served, emphasizing the command’s commitment to ensuring accountability in the case.
