Postponement of Interactive Session Between House Committee and Rivers State Sole Administrator
The interactive session scheduled for Thursday, April 17, 2025, between the House of Representatives Ad-Hoc Committee on Rivers State Oversight and Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (retd), the State Sole Administrator, has been postponed.
The committee, chaired by House Leader Prof. Julius Ihonvbere, invited the retired naval officer to discuss the implications of the suspension of democratic governance in Rivers State, which was enacted by President Bola Tinubu on March 18, 2025.
A statement released by Akin Rotimi, the Spokesman for the House of Representatives, indicated that the postponement results from a formal request from the Sole Administrator to reschedule the session.
At present, a new date for the meeting has not been established.
“The Ad-Hoc Committee on Rivers State Oversight has received the formal request from Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (retd) to rearrange the interactive session that was originally slated for today, April 17, 2025, at 4:00 p.m. The Committee has acknowledged the request and is currently working on coordinating a new date. In an effort to maintain transparency and effective oversight, the public will be informed promptly once the new date is confirmed,” the statement detailed.
