A devastating fire has razed the popular Nupe Line market in Igbudu Warri, Delta state, destroying goods worth millions of naira.

The fire broke out at approximately 11:30 PM on Thursday night amidst heavy rains, according to anonymous sources.

Fortunately, no casualties have been reported, but the fire caused significant damage to goods and raised concerns about the safety of nearby buildings and parked vehicles.

Affected traders are appealing for assistance from the state government. Mrs. Modupe Stella, one of the traders, expressed her distress, stating, “Over 30 traders have lost everything. We appeal to Governor Sheriff Oborevwori to help us. We still do not know the cause of the fire.”

Responding to the incident, Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Dr. Kingsley Emu, conveyed his sympathy to the traders and assured them of the state government’s support. He revealed that the government would launch an investigation to know the cause of the fire.

“The state government sympathizes with the traders and will provide assistance to those affected. An investigative committee will be formed to ascertain the root cause of the fire. It is a very unfortunate incident,” Dr. Emu stated.
