Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko, is in mourning following the death of one of its students, Modupe Ayandare, a 500-level student of the Department of Agronomy. The young student was found dead outside the campus on Monday morning, with reports suggesting that she took her own life.
According to sources, Ayandare was last seen leaving her church vigil around 4 am and was found hanging beside the church later that morning. The Students Union Government has confirmed the incident and expressed its disappointment and sorrow at the loss of one of its members.
The authorities have launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the student’s death, with the police working to unravel the cause of the incident. The Students Union has also appealed to anyone with information about the event to come forward and assist in the investigation.
This tragic event comes just months after a similar incident occurred at the Federal University of Technology Akure, where a 300-level student took his own life in January. The university community is reeling from this latest loss and is seeking answers to the question of why so many young lives are being lost in such a short period.
As the investigation continues, the university is providing support to Ayandare’s family and friends during this difficult time.
