Declare state of emergency in Rivers - APC tells FG

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State has called on the Federal Government to declare a state of emergency in the state, citing a breakdown of law and order. The party’s caretaker committee chairman, Chief Tony Okocha, made the demand during a press briefing in Port Harcourt yesterday.

According to Okocha, Rivers State is currently in a state of chaos, with rival factions engaged in a violent struggle for power. He alleged that the government and security agencies have been unable to effectively contain the situation, leading to a surge in violence and loss of lives.

Okocha said the APC believes that the federal government must take immediate action to restore order in the state, and prevent further bloodshed. He urged the federal authorities to declare a state of emergency in Rivers State, which would enable them to deploy more troops and resources to the area.

The APC chairman’s call comes as tensions continue to rise in Rivers State, where political differences have led to widespread violence and instability. The party hopes that federal intervention will help to bring an end to the conflict and restore peace to the troubled state.
