Chidimma Adetshina Overcomes Xenophobic Backlash to Secure National Title
Chidimma Adetshina, a 23-year-old law student, has clinched the title of Miss Universe Nigeria 2024, overcoming a recent controversy that led to her withdrawal from the Miss South Africa 2024 pageant. Adetshina, who faced xenophobic backlash in South Africa, returned to Nigeria to participate in the competition, where she was crowned the winner.
The grand finale, held on Saturday night at Eko Hotels & Suites in Lagos, was announced by Guy Murray-Bruce, President of Silverbird Group, the pageant’s organizers. Representing Taraba State, Adetshina stood out among 25 contestants.
In addition to receiving N10 million in cash, Adetshina will represent Nigeria at the Miss Universe pageant in Mexico this November.
