Yoruba Activist, Sunday Igboho Released by Benin Republic

Nigerian ethnic seccesionist, Sunday Adeyamo, aka Sunday Igboho, has been released from detention by the government government of the Republic of Benin.

He was arrested by interpol and detained in the Republic of Benin whie awaiting a Germany-bound flight after fleeing Nigeria in July, 2021. He was declared wanted by the DSS in Nigeria for allegedly stockpiling arms to destabilise the country, an allegation he denied.

Igboho was handed over to Yoruba Nation leader of the Umbrella body of Yoruba Self-determination Groups, Ilana Omo Oodua Worldwide, Banji Akintoye.

A statement by the group’s Communications Secretary, Maxwell Adeleye, Akintoye described the release of Ighoho as a triumph of truth over darkness in Yorubaland.

Sunday Igboho spent over 231 days in Benin Republic prison after he was arrested on July 19, 2021.
