The chief of staff to president Buhari of Nigeria, Abba Kyari is dead.
This was made known by a tweet from Femi Adesina, the special adviser on media and publicity to the president of Nigeria.
“Chief of Staff to the President, Mallam Abba Kyari, passes on. May God rest his soul. Amen. Funeral arrangements to be announced soon” he tweeted.
Abba Kyari tested positive for coronavirus following a trip to Germany and Egypt in March.
It was also reported that Kyari has underlying medical conditions, and was secretly flown out of the country.
He later rejected these claims, and was moved from Abuja to Lagos. He died on Friday 17th April, 2020 as a result of the virus.
The federal government announced that he will be buried almost immediately.
The country has a total confirmed 493 cases, with 159 discharged patients and 17 deaths.
