Mr Ibu breathed his last on a somber Saturday at the Evercare Hospital Lekki, located in Nigeria’s bustling commercial capital, Lagos. Despite efforts to save him, the actor succumbed to his illness after being admitted to the intensive care unit in the afternoon. Emeka Rollas Ejezie, the president of AGN, revealed that Mr Ibu suffered a fatal cardiac arrest, plunging the entertainment fraternity into a deep sense of grief.

Rollas took to social media platform Instagram to share the heartbreaking news, recounting how Mr Ibu’s manager of 24 years, Don Single Nwuzor, delivered the devastating update. “I announce with a deep sense of grief that Mr Ibu didn’t make it,” Rollas lamented, echoing the sentiments of countless fans mourning the loss of a beloved icon.

The journey leading to Mr Ibu’s tragic demise was fraught with health challenges, with one of the most notable being the amputation of his leg in November 2023. Contrary to rumors linking the amputation to diabetes, Mr Ibu’s family clarified that it was necessitated by a blood clot in his leg, a life-threatening condition that required immediate intervention.

So, the doctors had to go ahead to amputate the same leg further to ensure we didn’t lose him,” the statement elucidated, shedding light on the gravity of his health battles.
