The Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission, on Wednesday, announced new rates, signaling a sharp increase in electricity tariffs for customers classified under the Band A areas.
In this report, REPORT AFRIQUE highlights areas that will be affected by the new electricity tariff for the customers of the Port Harcourt Electricity Distribution Company, PHEDC covering Rivers, Akwa Ibom and Cross Rivers states.
Customers on the affected “band A” category will now be charged N225 per kilowatt-hour (KW/h). It is a significant contrast from the previous rate of N66 electricity tariff and has attracted mixed reactions from netizens since it was announced.
New Electricity Tariff: Affected PHED Band A Areas
Below are a list of the 43 Band A areas of Port Harcourt Electricity Distribution Company, PHEDC, covering Rivers, Akwa Ibom and Cross Rivers states, to be affected by the new tariff:
