London, Newry, Coventry... See List of cities not Considered best locations for Christmas Night Out

London, Newry, Coventry and others were considered among the worst UK cities for a Christmas night out according to a new study.

Coventry was ranked in the top ten looking at the most expensive and unsafe destinations. London was named as the overall worst city for a festive night out, followed by Newry, Armagh, Colchester and Carlisle. Coventry was eighth, with Dundee, Southend, Belfast and Exeter making up the rest of the top ten.

Researchers looked at factors including the average cost of a pint and the number of pubs per location. Looking to the end of a night out, they also considered the average cost of a takeaway and safety scores for walking alone at night.

The study was conducted by online casino company Casibella.com It analysed data on the number of bars and clubs, the number of pubs, the average cost of a pint, the average cost of a takeaway and safety scores for walking alone at night to determine the worst, most unsafe and least affordable cities for partygoers in the U.K.

They said the average cost of a 0.5L beer in Coventry is £3.50, with a McDonalds meal coming in at £7. The study put the number of bars and clubs in Cov per 100,000 people as 70 and gave the city a 27/100 safety score for walking home at night.

A spokesperson from Casibella.com said: “London is officially the worst city for a night out in the nation when considering several factors; including the number of bars, pubs and clubs to visit with friends because there is not enough nightlife to accommodate its huge population of 9.6 million.

“It is interesting that other cities in the study, from Armagh to Carlisle, are notably smaller and scattered across the nation; this suggests that the quality of nightlife does not depend on the size of a city and can fluctuate around England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland.”
