The police in Rivers state have paraded the body of late cult leader, Gift David Okpara alias 2 Baba who was alleged to have killed DPO Bako Angbashim in 2023 at Ediemudie community in Ahoada East area of the state.
A team of the special unit of policemen brought the decomposing body in a white open Hilux vehicle into the police headquarters around 11:06 am Friday. The corpse attracted the attention of operatives and visitors at the command as they jostled to catch a glimpse of the wanted Iceland cult leader’s remains.
Late Gift Okpara Aka 2Baba
Briefing newsmen at the Command’s headquarters at Moscow road, Port Harcourt, the State Commissioner of Police, Olatunji Disu, said the body of 2 baba was exhumed from a forest in the Ebrass Community in Ahoada West Local Government Area.
He also thanked other security agencies especially the Nigerian Air Force for their collaboration in ensuring that 2baba and his evil gang were brought to justice.
CP Disu added that he is in discussion with Governor Siminalayi Fubara for the release of a N100 million bounty for information that would lead to the capture of the wanted gang leader accused of killing SP Bako Angbashim in September last year to the informant.
2 Baba, a wanted leader of the Icelanders cult group had terrorized the Ahoada East area of Rivers state for years. His gang members were responsible for series of killings and kidnappings along the East West Road. His reign of terror culminated in the killing of DPO Bako Angbashim in 2023 after the officer’s team was ambushed at Ediemude community.
Angbashim’s remains were later dilapidated by 2 Baba’s gang members and video of the officer’s dismembered body circulated on the internet.
Following the murder of Angbashim, a bounty of N100 million was announced by governor Siminilaye Fubara for anyone with information to 2 Baba’s arrest or capture.
