Kenneth Okonkwo, the former spokesman for the Labour Party’s presidential campaign council, has officially announced his departure from the party and his separation from former presidential candidate Peter Obi.
In a statement titled “Political Journey to a Great Nigeria,” Okonkwo emphasized his dedication to creating a Nigeria founded on equity, justice, and fairness. However, he criticized the current political parties, including the Labour Party, for lacking the capacity to lead the nation to greatness.
Kenneth Okonkwo Cites Internal Crisis and Leadership Failures
Okonkwo attributed Nigeria’s challenges to a lack of internal democracy within political parties, which he argued results in the rise of incompetent and corrupt leaders in government. He highlighted the necessity for a decisive leader capable of building a party with integrity and character from the grassroots level.
Reflecting on the 2023 struggle to free Nigeria from corrupt leaders, Okonkwo lamented that the victory was stolen. He expressed doubt that the judiciary will uphold democracy due to widespread judicial abuse, urging citizens to take control of their future by voting for the right president and ensuring that individual is sworn in.
Okonkwo clarified that his decision to leave the Labour Party is not motivated by any intention to join the APC or PDP. He reaffirmed his commitment to the Nigerian people and their aspirations for a better future.
